Summary: The Curriculum Specialist position is a two-year contract position that will be filled with a remote worksite. Responsibilities include supporting curriculum development and revisions needs for the Camp Fire network. By the end of the contract term, Camp Fire’s most-used curricula will be updated/enhanced and meet all high-level requirements. Camp Fire councils will have access to an array of effective curricula options that can be utilized across programs (club, after school, in-school, day and resident camp), for various age ranges (school-age, middle school, and teen) that support diverse program needs and youth outcomes (academic, social, emotional, and health outcomes).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

§ Provide project management of curriculum strategy, including creation and curation of new content, revision of existing program curriculum, and related professional development.

§ Ensure Camp Fire’s core curriculum manuals and training guides align with Camp Fire’s vision and program framework, and incorporate research-based theory and evaluation data.

§ In partnership with Program Consultant, design a strategy for scaffolded learning across Camp Fire’s core curriculum, including defining scope, sequence, learning objectives and overall programmatic goals for new and existing curriculum.

§ Integrate Camp Fire’s program methodology, Thrive{ology}, into existing curriculum, with support from Program Consultant.

§ Facilitate pilot process and associated revisions for small group (club) curriculum and Wohelo Award curriculum with stakeholders.

§ Develop additional curriculum resources, training guides and toolkits for elementary school-age programs, middle school programs, and high school programs.

§ Work with System Learning Specialist to develop web-based multimedia, interactive professional development that supports implementation of curriculum across diverse program settings.

§ Facilitate trainings and provide support training materials to ensure effective use of Camp Fire curriculum and program materials, evaluation instruments, and program quality assessments.

§ Keep abreast of the latest trends in curriculum and instruction, positive youth development and implications for Camp Fire youth and staff.

§ Provide regular reporting and communication to Program Consultant.

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Child Development, Education, Environmental Education, Curriculum & Instruction or related field, master's degree preferred, or a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training in curriculum design; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


· Knowledge and experience in current best practices, research and trends in curriculum and instruction.

· Experience facilitating small and large groups of adult learners, both in person and at a distance.

· Strong analytical skills in data collection and analysis. Knowledge/experience in understanding statistics, educational research methods, and outcome evaluation tools.

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team and independently.

· Experience managing individuals and/or project teams.

· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

· Experience with indicators of program quality and program quality assessment.

· Functions professionally and productively with or without supervision. Takes responsibility for producing quality work, setting realistic deadlines and commitments, and maintains ongoing communication with all parties.
